Pathways
& Walls
The connective tissue of great outdoor design. Paver walkways that guide movement and garden walls that define space — both engineered for Virginia's demanding soil conditions.
Your Vision,
Our Craftsmanship
We turn outdoor living dreams into spaces you actually want to spend time in — designed around how you live, built with the care your home deserves.
SINCE 2012
Design First
Every project starts with understanding how you want the space to feel — then we design around that vision with 3D renderings and material selections.
Built To Last
Our builds go deeper than what you see on the surface. Proper base prep, drainage, and materials mean your outdoor space stays beautiful for decades.
Certified Crew
ICPI and NCMA certified installers. We hold national certifications so you don't have to worry about whether the work was done right.
Full Service
From the first phone call to the final walkthrough — design, materials, permitting, installation, and warranty. One team, one process, one point of contact.
Accessible Design
Walkways graded to ADA standards with stable, non-trip surfaces and proper cross-slopes.
Base Depth
Minimum 6-inch compacted aggregate base to prevent settling in Virginia's expansive clay.
Integrated Lighting
Low-voltage pathway lighting integrated directly into the hardscape for safety and ambiance.
Natural Stone
Flagstone, bluestone, and natural cut stone options for organic, timeless aesthetics.
The Details That
Define Great Design
Walkways and garden walls are often afterthoughts in outdoor design. That's a mistake. These elements are what transform a collection of features into a cohesive outdoor environment. A well-designed pathway creates intentional flow. A well-built garden wall creates visual hierarchy and functional separation.
Paver Walkways
Whether it's a grand front entry or a casual garden path, every walkway we build starts with the same engineering foundation: excavation to stable subgrade, geotextile fabric, compacted aggregate base, and bedding sand. In Richmond's clay soil, shortcuts on the base guarantee failure within 2–3 years.
We design walkways that are minimum 4 feet wide for comfortable two-person passage, with proper cross-slope for drainage. Pattern options range from classic herringbone to contemporary linear formats.
Garden & Seat Walls
Freestanding garden walls serve multiple purposes: they define planting beds, create seating areas, screen utilities, and add vertical dimension to flat landscapes. We build them with segmental retaining wall units or natural stone, always on a compacted gravel footing with proper drainage behind.
Seat walls — typically 18–20 inches high — are one of the most requested features in our projects. They provide functional seating around fire pits, patios, and outdoor kitchens while doubling as architectural borders.
Borders & Edging
The transition between hardscape and landscape is where amateur work shows. We use soldier course borders, natural stone edging, and aluminum restraints to create clean, permanent lines that won't shift over time.
"The path is just as important as the destination. A great walkway makes you slow down and appreciate the space."

The Build Process
Layout
Marking pathways and wall positions with stakes and string lines for client approval.
Excavation
Digging to stable subgrade, removing clay, and installing geotextile separation fabric.
Base Build
Compacting aggregate in 3-inch lifts to achieve a rock-solid, frost-stable foundation.
Surface Set
Laying pavers or stone with precision cuts, proper joint spacing, and level accuracy.
Edge Lock
Installing permanent edge restraints and polymeric sand to lock everything in place.
Proven
In Situ
“From the first phone call, they made us feel like our project actually mattered. The 3D design blew us away — we could see exactly what our backyard would look like before they broke ground. The finished patio is even more beautiful than the rendering.”
Sarah J.
Short Pump
“Regan walked us through every detail and kept us updated the entire build. No surprises, no stress. Our neighbors can't stop complimenting the new patio and walkway — it completely transformed our outdoor space.”
Robert L.
The Fan District
“We interviewed three companies and Evergreen was the only one who actually listened to what we wanted. The design process was collaborative, the crew was professional, and they finished on schedule. Our pool deck looks like a resort.”

“The attention to detail is what sets them apart. Everything from the color selection to the lighting design was thoughtful. Our outdoor kitchen has become the center of every family gathering. Best investment we've made in our home.”
